Transformer Repair

In addition to being a transformer manufacturing company, Rymel also provides diagnostic, maintenance, and repair services for transformers.

Below are the activities offered related to each service:

  • Repair, manufacturing, or modification of one or more coils in both dry and oil transformers.

  • Voltage modification in both low and medium voltage.

  • Repair or modification of the tank.

On-Site Transformer Maintenance

  • Washing and baking of the active part
  • Dielectric oil change
  • Gasket replacement
  • Tank cleaning through mechanical or chemical attack
  • Tank painting
  • Routine electrical tests
  • Type electrical tests (optional)
  • Electrical test protocol
  • Instrumentation review

Furthermore, in our product portfolio, we offer various electrical tests that are part of our diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services, which are mentioned below.

  • Transformation Ratio
  • Insulation Resistance
  • Winding Resistance
  • Vacuum test for transformer maintenance in plant 1
  • Short circuit test
  • Applied voltage test
  • Induced voltage test
  • Impulse test
  • Partial discharges test
  • Frequency Response Analysis (FRA)
  • Power factor test

On-Site Transformer Maintenance

In addition to providing diagnostic and maintenance services at its facilities, Rymel also offers this service on-site. The following are the services provided:

  • Washing the transformer and the cell with a hydro-washer.
  • Blowing and vacuuming the components of the measuring and power cells. Washing the doors and covers of the cells.
  • Correction of oil leaks from transformers.
  • Replacement of the gasket.
  • Changing insulators and hardware for low and high voltage.
  • Review and replacement of measuring and control elements of power transformers.
  • Electrical tests.
  • Vacuuming and blowing with Nitrogen for dry transformers.

Maintenance in Power Substations up to 44KV

Preventive maintenance in a substation is carried out with the aim of detecting failures that could affect its proper functioning, as a substation is a fundamental part of an industry and a production shutdown can lead to significant financial losses.

Maintenance in an electrical substation consists of:

  • Physical inspection of the structures and each of its components.
  • General cleaning.
  • Lubrication of mechanical components.
  • Connection adjustments.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and dielectric tests.

Electrical Testing for Transformers On-Site and In-Plant

Rymel currently has a wide portfolio of electrical tests in order to offer our customers the best advice and diagnosis for their equipment. Below are the electrical tests that are performed.

  • Transformation Ratio
  • Insulation Resistance
  • Winding Resistance
  • No-load Test
  • Short Circuit Test
  • Applied Voltage Test
  • Induced Voltage Test
  • Impulse Test
  • Partial Discharge Test
  • Frequency Response Analysis (FRA)
  • Power Factor Test

Physicochemical Analysis of Mineral and Vegetable Dielectric Oil

As we well know, the dielectric oil is a fundamental part of the transformer's lifespan, therefore, it is of great importance to know its condition to prevent a possible failure in the future. For this reason, Rymel offers the following diagnostic services for the dielectric oil:

  • Dielectric breakdown voltage (ASTM D877).
  • Neutralization number (ASTM D974).
  • Interfacial tension (ASTM D2285).
  • Color (ASTM D1500).
  • Relative density (ASTM D1298).
  • Moisture in PPM (ASTM D1533).
  • Quality index

Thermography Service

Thermography is a technique with which temperature measurements can be made without contact and at a distance, while also allowing visualization of images, which are formed by the source of infrared radiation.

Applications of thermography in industrial preventive maintenance, this technique is applicable for:

  • High and low voltage lines.
  • Control and power cabinets.
  • Electrical joints, hotspots.
  • Distribution and power transformers.
  • Electric motors.
